Canada needs a climate policy that moves past division and focuses on the future we want. We need a climate policy that is unifying, credible, and predictable; that reduces emissions, drives investment and builds the economy of the future. Investments made today can drive emissions down, drive new economic growth across Canada and open new export markets with like-minded countries. Action now will be far less costly than the impacts we will face in the years to come, making these investments prudent and necessary for Canada’s long-term sustainability. It’s time for generational investment from both government and the private sector. The sustainable transition in Canada must be based on strong partnerships with Indigenous peoples and ensure they share in the benefits.

Canada has the world’s cleanest energy, strongest environmental regulations and most responsible resource industries. But during the lost Liberal decade, environmental action was replaced with costly ideology and symbolism, taxing working families without significantly reducing actual environmental waste and pollution. A new Conservative government will restore common sense to environmental protection. We’ll protect Canada’s land, water, wildlife, and air—with conservation and pride in our parks, wilderness, and outdoor heritage.

We see climate action as a chance to build— good jobs, clean industries, and lower energy costs. We’ll take bold steps to cut emissions, attract investment, and protect our natural environment. And we won’t let negotiations with Donald Trump — or anyone else — undermine Canada’s environmental protections.

[Quebecers want] a Quebec that continues the fight against climate change, even if it's difficult, because it's also an asset for our businesses against American giants, a prerequisite for entering foreign markets and a source of savings for households paying for climate change. The threat posed by Trump could be an opportunity for Quebecers. It presents an opportunity to better adapt to the climate changes that are already happening and to reduce their long-term costs. It presents an opportunity to protect our scarce, clean resources and then turn them into sectors of a circular and sustainable economy. It presents an opportunity to invest in greener, more resilient infrastructure. It presents an opportunity to hold those responsible for the climate crisis accountable for the consequences of their actions.

Canada must meet the climate crisis with unflinching resolve and unwavering leadership. We would bring in legally binding emissions reductions under the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, setting Canada on a path to zero emissions by 2050. |
